ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Major film studios

Imagine you like to make drawings and paintings, and you have a lot of art supplies like paint, markers, and paper. Now, let's say you have so many drawings and paintings that you want to share them with other people to see. That's when you might want to make a book with your art, or show them in an exhibition.

Major film studios are like big factories where people make movies, just like you make art. They have a lot of resources, such as cameras, actors, directors, and money to help make really big and fancier movies.

There are currently six major film studios: Warner Bros, Disney, Universal, Paramount, 20th Century Fox, and Sony Pictures. It's kind of like having six really big kids in class who love to share their drawings and paintings with others. These studios make lots of different movies, like action movies, comedies, dramas, and more.

When a studio makes a movie they want to show to people in theaters or at home, they have to do a lot of things first, just like you have to plan and prepare before making a book or an exhibition. They come up with ideas for stories or use stories from books, hire actors and crew members to help make the movie, and decide where to film the scenes.

Once the movie is finished, the studio has to figure out how to get as many people as possible to watch it. They might advertise on TV or social media, have posters at theaters, and even have special events to make people excited about the movie.

So major film studios are like big companies where people work together to make movies and get them seen by lots of people.
