ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Mandatory retirement

Mandatory retirement is when someone is legally required to stop working when they turn a certain age. This age is usually 65. Mandatory retirement is used because some jobs are too dangerous or physically demanding for someone to do too late in life. For example, a firefighter or an airline pilot would not be allowed to work beyond 65, because it might be too dangerous for them to do the job.
