Mandelbulbs are 3D pictures made from a special kind of equation. They were first discovered in 2009 by a mathematician named Daniel White. The equation takes a normal 2D picture, like a square or circle, and makes it into a 3D shape. This 3D shape is made of different shapes, like cubes, cylinders and pyramids. The pictures look like plant roots, or a bunch of cubes stacked on top of each other. The Mandelbulb is interesting because it is made from a very simple math equation, yet it produces complex, interesting shapes.
