ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Mansplaining

Okay, so you know how sometimes grown-ups can explain things to you in a way that makes you feel like they think you're not smart enough to understand? That's mansplaining.

Sometimes when a man explains something to a woman, he may do it in a way that makes her feel like he thinks she's not as smart as he is just because she's a girl. It can make her feel frustrated because maybe she already knows what he's explaining or maybe she just wants him to see her as an equal.

It's not nice to mansplain because it can make people feel bad or belittled. It's important to listen to what others have to say and respect their intelligence, no matter their gender.
