Marion Donovan was a very smart and talented lady who invented something that we use every day - the disposable diaper! Before her invention, mommies and daddies used cloth diapers that they had to wash and reuse again and again. This was really hard work and sometimes the babies would even get rashes from the wetness.
So, Marion Donovan came up with the idea to create a diaper that would be throw-away, so once it was used, parents could just toss it in the trash and not have to worry about washing it. She used a lot of different materials and did a lot of experiments until she finally found the perfect combination of materials to make a diaper that was comfortable for babies to wear and also could hold all of their yucky stuff without any leaks.
Her invention was a big hit and lots of moms and dads all over the world started using her disposable diapers. She even started her own company to make and sell them! And now, because of Marion Donovan, we can all use disposable diapers and have much easier and less icky lives.
