Maritime Coast Range Ponderosa Pine forests

Okay kiddo, imagine you're by the ocean where there's a big mountain range nearby. Around those mountains, there are lots of trees called ponderosa pines. These trees are tall and have thick bark that protects them from fires. They also have long needles that help them hold onto their water so they can survive in dry conditions.

These forests are really important because animals live there, like bears, deer, and birds. People also use these forests for camping, hiking, and even cutting down trees to make things like furniture.

But it's important to remember that we need to take care of these forests and not destroy them too much. That way, they can continue to provide homes for animals and fun outings for people for a long time.
