ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Mark (unit)

A mark is a word that we use to talk about a special way of measuring things. It's kind of like a ruler, but instead of using centimeters or inches, we use different marks. For example, one mark might be the length of your thumb, or the width of your pinky finger.

Different people use different marks depending on where they live and what they're measuring. In some places, people might use a mark that's the length of a piece of string or the size of a certain type of fruit.

So, basically, a mark is just a way of measuring things that's unique to a certain group of people or place. It helps us make sure things are the right size or length.
