ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Mark Granovetter

Mark Granovetter is a very smart man who studied how people make connections with each other. He wanted to know how people become friends or find jobs through the people they know.

He found out that sometimes, the people we don't know well can actually be the ones who help us the most. They can tell us about job openings or introduce us to someone who can help us.

He also talked about something called "weak ties." These are the people we might not know very well, but we see them often enough to say hello. Sometimes, these weak ties can be really helpful because they know people and have information we don't have.

So, Mark Granovetter teaches us that it's important to talk to lots of people and make connections, even if we don't know them well. You never know who might be able to help you in the future!
