Market penetration is when companies try to sell as much of their product or service as possible in a certain area. Companies will use lots of different strategies to try and increase their market penetration - like advertising, giving discounts and offering incentives. Like if you're a TV company, you'd want to get your TV sets in as many homes as possible so you'd have lots of people watching your shows. So you'd advertise on TV, in newspapers and online, to try and persuade people to buy your TVs. You might also offer special discounts or try and bundle the TV with something else - like with a media center or digital content package.
