Mary Ann Cotton
Mary Ann Cotton was a lady who lived a long time ago, in a place called England. She was famous for doing bad things, like making people sick on purpose and then taking their money. This is called being a "poisoner." You see, Mary Ann had a lot of kids, but some of them got very sick and died. This made people very sad and worried because they didn't know why Mary Ann's kids kept getting sick and dying.
Eventually, people started to suspect Mary Ann of doing something bad to her kids. They looked into it and found out that Mary Ann had been giving her kids medicine that she made herself. This medicine wasn't the kind that doctors give you when you get sick, it was something she made at home using chemicals.
The chemicals Mary Ann used were really bad for people and made her kids very sick. Sometimes they even died from it! People were very angry with Mary Ann and she went to jail for what she had done. To this day, she is known as a very bad lady who did very bad things.
