Mary of Egypt
Mary of Egypt was a lady who lived a very long time ago, even before our grandparents were born. She was a very bad person and did lots of things that were not nice.
One day, she wanted to go to a big church to see all the people praying there. But they wouldn't let her in because she was so bad. Mary felt very upset and cried a lot. She didn't know what to do.
Then she saw a picture of Mary, the mother of Jesus, and she prayed to her. Suddenly, she felt better and decided to change her ways. So, she went to a desert far away from her home to become a better person and pray to God.
Mary lived alone in the desert for a very long time, and she prayed so much. She even survived by eating only plants and berries. She prayed and prayed until she became a very good person.
Many years later, a holy man came to the desert and found Mary. He was very surprised to see that Mary had turned into such a good person. He talked to her and listened to her story. Then, he gave her food and baptized her. And that's how Mary became a saint.
