ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Matching preclusion

Matching preclusion is like a game you play with your friends where each of you has a different colored toy. If you want to make sure that none of you have toys that match exactly, you can use matching preclusion.

Here's how it works: before you start the game, you all agree that you won't have any toys that have the exact same color. Then, you can each take turns picking a toy. If someone picks a toy that has the same color as one of the other toys already picked, they have to put it back and pick a different one.

The goal of matching preclusion is to make sure everyone has a unique toy, so there aren't any duplicates. It's kind of like making sure your toys are all dressed differently so they can stand out and be special.
