ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Matthew 5:32

Okay kiddo, let's talk about Matthew 5:32. This is a part of the Bible where Jesus is talking to some people about marriage and divorce. Jesus says that if a man and a woman get married, they are meant to stay married for their whole lives. But sometimes things happen and they can't stay together, so they get divorced.

Now, Jesus says that if a man divorces his wife, except for some very special reasons, he is making her do something wrong. This might sound strange, but what he means is that by divorcing her, the man is making it hard for her to be happy and find love again.

Jesus also says that if a woman gets divorced and then gets married again, she's doing something wrong too. This is because getting divorced and then remarried was seen as a bad thing back then.

So what does this all mean? Basically, Jesus is saying that marriage is really important and you should only get divorced if it's really, really necessary. He wants people to stay committed to each other and work through their problems, instead of just giving up and getting divorced.

I hope that explains it well, kiddo!
