ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Mauritia (microcontinent)

Mauritia is like a tiny continent that used to be part of a bigger continent called Gondwana a really long time ago, when the dinosaurs were still around. Mauritia is now underwater, but scientists found rocks that belonged to it in a place called Mauritius, which is an island in the Indian Ocean. They think that Mauritia broke off from Gondwana over a billion years ago and drifted away. Even though it's underwater now, scientists still study it to learn more about the Earth's history.
