May Day Riots of 1894

Oh hello little one! May Day Riots of 1894 was a very important time in history when workers, the people who do jobs to make things for others, wanted to have better treatment and better pay from their bosses. They decided to go on strike, which means they stopped doing their jobs and refused to work until their bosses listened to them.

When the bosses didn't listen, the workers decided to protest. A protest is when people gather together to tell other people they don't like something and want it to change. Unfortunately, some people who were not part of the protest came in and started breaking windows and damaging buildings. This is not what the workers wanted and it made things worse.

Eventually, things got so bad that the police had to come in and stop the riots. A lot of people got hurt and arrested. This was a really tough time for everyone involved, but it showed how important it is for workers to be treated fairly and how important it is to protest peacefully.
