ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Mealy machine

A Mealy machine is kind of like a little robot or computer program that can do things based on what it sees or hears. Imagine you have a friend who can only say really simple words like "yes" or "no", and you want to make them do something for you when you say a certain word.

So, you could create a Mealy machine that listens for that special word, and when it hears it, it makes your friend do something specific, like jump up and down or spin around. The machine can also choose to say something in response, like "Wow, you're so good at making me move!"

The machine works by following specific rules or steps called algorithms. These algorithms tell the machine exactly what to do when it sees or hears different things, kind of like following a recipe to make a cake. The machine can only do certain things based on what it's been programmed to do, but it can do them really fast and accurately, which makes it very useful for solving problems and completing tasks.
