Mean radiant temperature

Mean radiant temperature is like a big warm hug, but imagine you are outside on a cold day. You don't feel warm because of the air temperature, but because of the sun shining on you or a nice fireplace warming you up.

This is the same as mean radiant temperature, which is the temperature you feel because of everything around you that is giving off heat. This could be the sun, a fire, or even a hot sidewalk.

To figure out mean radiant temperature, we have to add up all the different sources of heat around us and figure out how they balance out. When we take everything into account, we figure out how warm or cold it actually feels outside.
