Meaning (linguistics)

Linguistics is the study of language, and meaning is an important part of language. Language is made up of words and sentences that convey a certain meaning. Meaning in language is what makes the words we speak or write meaningful to others. For example, saying 'I love you' has a different meaning than saying 'I like you a lot'. The meaning of words or sentences comes from the context in which they're used. Different words have different meanings depending on the context. For example, 'green' can mean the color, a type of vegetable, or money. It all depends on the context.
