Mechanical and organic solidarity

Okay kiddo, have you ever played in a team with your friends? If yes, then you already know something about mechanical and organic solidarity.

Imagine you and your friends want to build the highest tower in the neighborhood using only cards. When you work on the tower, everyone has the same job and does the same thing. This is called mechanical solidarity. It means you are all connected and work together like a machine.

Now, imagine another time you and your friends want to put on a play at school. You will need some of your friends to act, some to make costumes, some to write the script, and some to make props. Everyone has a different job and they need to work together to make the play happen. This is called organic solidarity. It means you are all different and you rely on each other to make your work complete.

So, the difference between mechanical and organic solidarity is that in mechanical solidarity, everyone has the same job and does the same thing, while in organic solidarity, people have different roles and work together to create something bigger.
