Medal inflation

Okay kiddo, so you know how when you do a really good job, sometimes you get a medal or a trophy to show everyone how awesome you are? Well, lots of people like getting medals and trophies because it makes them feel special and important.

Now, imagine that there are lots and lots of people who are doing really good jobs and getting lots and lots of medals and trophies. That's kind of like what's happening now with medal inflation.

You see, over the years, there are more and more sports and events where athletes can win medals. That means there are more medals being given out each time there's a big competition like the Olympics or the World Cup. In some cases, there are even more medals being given out in a single event than there used to be.

So, while getting a medal used to be a really big deal, nowadays it's not quite as special because there are so many of them being given out. Some people might even say that it's not as impressive to win a medal now as it was in the past because of medal inflation.

But remember, just because there are more medals being given out doesn't mean that the athletes who win them aren't still really amazing and talented. It's just something to keep in mind when you hear about all the medals being won these days.
