ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Media Preservation Foundation

Ok kiddo, have you ever drawn a picture or made a craft in school that you really liked and wanted to keep forever?

Well, imagine that there are lots of other things like that - things that people have made or recorded that we want to keep safe and be able to see or hear in the future.

That's where the media preservation foundation comes in. They are like the grown-up version of your parents who helped you preserve your artwork. They make sure that special things like old movies, recordings, and photographs are safely stored and protected so that people can continue to enjoy them for a long time.

They have all sorts of ways to do this, like storing things in special places where they won't get ruined by things like water or light. They even use special machines to create new copies of old movies or music recordings so that they don't get lost or forgotten.

The media preservation foundation is like a big library, but instead of books, they take care of all sorts of different things that people have made, so that we can keep enjoying them for many years to come.
