ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Medical tourism

Medical tourism is like when you go on a vacation, but instead of going to see cool things like museums or beaches, you go to another country to get medical treatment. People do this because sometimes the treatment they need might be too expensive or not available in their own country.

So, they travel to another country where the treatment might be cheaper, faster, or better. For example, people from the US might go to India or Mexico for dental work, because it can be less expensive, but still good quality.

But, it's important to remember that going on a medical vacation is not always safe. Some countries may not have the same safety standards or regulations as your own country. It is important to do research and talk to your doctor before deciding to go on a medical vacation.
