Meiosis (figure of speech)

Meiosis (a figure of speech) is when you say something in a way that is much less direct and powerful than it could be. It's like talking around something, using a lot of words to explain something but not getting to the point quickly. For example, if you wanted to say that someone's house is a mess, you could use meiosis and say something like, "Their house is a little bit out of order."
