ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Melee (gaming)

Melee in gaming means fighting up close with your character's fists, weapons or special moves, instead of shooting or attacking from a distance. It's like pretend fighting with your friends, but on a screen.

Think of it like a game of tag - if you want to tag someone, you have to be close to them, right? In a game with melee, your character has to get close to the enemy to attack, just like in tag.

In some games with melee, you can do things like throw punches, swing a sword, or use magic to attack the enemy. Sometimes, melee attacks can be really strong, but they can also be kind of dangerous because you have to get close to the enemy - just like when you're playing tag, you might get caught if you're not careful!

So, whenever you're playing a game that has melee in it, remember that it means getting up close and personal with your enemies, just like when you tag your friends.
