Meniskos

Hello there! Today we are going to talk about your knees, and a special part of your knee called the meniscus (pronounced men-iss-cuss).

Your knees are really important because they help you walk, run, jump and do all sorts of cool things. But sometimes, your knee can get hurt or injured. That's where the meniscus comes in!

The meniscus is a small piece of cartilage (pronounced car-ti-ledge) that sits between your thigh bone and your shin bone. It's like a cushion that helps your knee joint move smoothly and helps reduce the impact when you jump or land.

The meniscus can sometimes get torn if there is too much pressure on your knee, like if you change direction suddenly or get hit while playing a sport. It can also wear down over time if you use your knees a lot, like if you go running or hiking a lot.

When your meniscus is torn or worn down, it can be really painful and make it hard for you to use your knee properly. That's why it's important to take care of your knees and try to avoid injuring your meniscus.

If you do hurt your meniscus, your doctor can help you with different treatments like rest, ice, and physical therapy. In some cases, you may need surgery to repair or remove the torn part of the meniscus.

So remember, take care of your knees and be careful when you play sports or do other activities that put pressure on your knee. And if you do get hurt, don't worry – your doctor can help you feel better!
