Okay kiddo, you know that your brain is in charge of everything you do, right? Well, sometimes your brain does things that you can't see or touch, like when you think or feel things in your head. These things that happen in your head are called mental events.
Imagine that your brain is like a big factory where all of your thoughts and feelings are made. In this factory, there are workers called neurons that help make everything happen. When you have a mental event, it means some of these neurons in your brain have started goofing around and sending signals to each other.
Now, these signals are really important because they help your brain process information and create all kinds of thoughts and feelings. For example, imagine you're playing with your favorite toy and all of a sudden, you feel happy. That's a mental event! Your brain is sending signals that help you understand how much you like that toy and how it makes you feel good.
So, mental events happen in your brain when it's doing important stuff like thinking, feeling, learning, and remembering things. And even though we can't see them, mental events are super important for helping us understand ourselves and the world around us.
