ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Menu

Okay kiddo, imagine you're playing with your food toys and you want to make a pretend meal. You need to know what foods you have to choose from, right? A menu is like a list of all the foods that are available to order at a restaurant or when you go out to eat.

Just like when you play with your food toys, a menu can have different categories or sections like "appetizers" for small snacks, "entrees" for bigger dishes, and "desserts" for sweet treats. Each item on the menu usually has a name, description, and price so that you and your grown-up can decide what you want to eat and how much it will cost.

Some menus even have pictures of the food to help you decide what looks the tastiest. The menu usually gets passed around the table so everyone can take a look and decide what they want to order.

And there you have it, kiddo! A menu is just a list of the different foods you can order when you eat out.
