The Merchant of Venice is a story about a man named Antonio who loves to lend money to people so they can start new businesses and help their families. Antonio goes to a man named Shylock and agrees to lend him some money in exchange for a pound of his flesh if Antonio cannot repay the loan. Antonio doesn't think he won't be able to pay the loan back, but he agrees to it anyway. Later on, Antonio's friends get together and help him pay back all the money he borrowed so he doesn't have to give Shylock a pound of his flesh. In the end, the story teaches us that it's better to help other people and be generous, rather than saying no or being mean.
