ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Mereotopology

Mereotopology is a big word. It's a way of talking about shapes and space, kind of like playing with puzzle pieces or Legos.

Every shape is made up of smaller parts, like a puzzle made of pieces, or a house made of blocks. Each piece has its own size and shape. Mereotopology helps us understand how these pieces fit together to make the larger shape.

For example, when you play with Legos, you can build a big tower by putting small Lego blocks together. Mereotopology helps you understand how each block fits into the tower, and how they make up the larger shape.

Mereotopology also helps us understand how shapes relate to each other. For example, a square is a shape, and a triangle is a shape. We can put them together to make a bigger shape, like a house. Mereotopology helps us understand how these shapes fit together, and what the new shape looks like.

Overall, mereotopology helps us understand shapes and space, and how we can use smaller pieces to make bigger things.
