ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Merleau Ponty

Merleau-Ponty was a really smart man who thought and wrote about how we experience the world around us. He believed that everything we know and understand comes from our senses, like seeing, touching, and hearing. He said that our bodies are the way we connect to the world and we can't separate ourselves from it.

In simpler words, Merleau-Ponty thought that we experience things through our body and it's an important part of who we are. For example, if we see a flower, we can't just look at it with our eyes, we have to use our whole body to understand what it looks like, smells like, and even feels like. It's like we have a special connection with the world, and Merleau-Ponty wanted to understand more about it.
