ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Meromorphic function

Okay kiddo, imagine you have a magic machine called a function that can take a number and give you another number. A meromorphic function is a special kind of magic function that works with any number you give it, except for a few special ones called poles.

Think of the poles like a hole in the ground. If you try to put a number into the magic function that falls into that hole, it won't work and the machine will break. But everywhere else, it will work just fine.

Meromorphic functions are like having a very selective friend - they can be very helpful most of the time, but when they don't like a number, they won't talk to it at all.
