ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Mesovortex

Okay, imagine a bunch of air spinning around in a circle like in a tornado, but smaller, like a little mini-tornado inside the big one. This mini-tornado is called a mesovortex. It's kind of like a swirl of air that's separate from the rest of the big swirl. Sometimes they happen in big storms called thunderstorms, and they can be pretty powerful, even though they're small. They can cause strong winds and even damage buildings if they're strong enough.
