Messapian pottery

Do you know what pottery is? It's when people take some mud and shape it into a bowl, vase or plate. Then they heat it up in a special oven called a kiln, which makes it hard and strong.

Now, Messapian pottery is a special kind of pottery that was made a long long time ago by a group of people called the Messapians. They lived in Italy around 2,500 years ago!

When the Messapians made their pottery, they often decorated it with pictures of animals, plants, and even people. They followed a style called geometric patterns, which means they used shapes like circles, lines and triangles to make their designs.
