Meta-system

Meta-system is a way of looking at something in a bigger way so that you can understand it better. It's like standing back and taking in the whole view, instead of just focusing on one part. For example, let's say you were looking at a tree. If you were to just look at the tree from one angle, you'd only get a certain picture. But if you look at the tree as part of a bigger system, you can see how the tree fits into the larger environment: the way it affects the landscape, the way it interacts with other living things and the way it might change over time. By looking at the tree as part of a meta-system, we can understand it better.
