Metadata

Metadata is like a label that tells you information about something else. It's like if you had a bunch of shoes, you could write labels on each pair that said what size they were. That way, when you go looking for your shoes, you can easily find the right ones. Metadata is like those labels, but on digital things like pictures, websites, and documents. Metadata tells us things like who created the digital item, when it was created and what type of thing it is.
