Meteoric water

Meteoric water is just like rainwater. When clouds in the sky get too heavy with water, the water droplets fall down to the ground as rain. This rainwater is called meteoric water because it comes from the meteors (or the sky) above us.

When meteoric water falls to the ground, it can either flow into rivers or streams or seep into the ground. The water that seeps through the ground is called groundwater.

Groundwater can stay under the ground for a long time and it can also dissolve minerals and rocks as it moves through them. This causes the water to change over time, eventually becoming groundwater that contains minerals that did not exist in the meteoric water.

In simpler terms, it's like drinking water from a tap. The tap water originally comes from a river or lake (like meteoric water), but it is treated and processed before it reaches your home. That's why tap water tastes different than natural water. Similarly, meteoric water undergoes changes to become groundwater that may have different minerals and contain natural impurities.
