ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Method (music)

Okay kiddo, when musicians play music, they usually follow a plan or way of doing things to make sure they're playing together and making beautiful sounds. This plan is called a method. It's like a recipe for cooking something yummy - you have to follow the steps in order to get the tasty treat you want.

So, if you're playing a song with a group of people, you might use a method to make sure everyone knows what part they're playing, when to start or stop playing, and how to play together so it sounds good. It's like a set of rules everyone agrees to follow to make great music!

Some musicians might use specific methods or techniques for playing certain instruments, too. For example, a guitarist might use a certain method for holding the strings to produce different sounds, or a singer might use a method for breathing and singing in tune.

So, even though it might seem like musicians are just playing and having fun, there's actually a lot of planning and methodical thinking that goes into making music sound amazing!
