Methodological naturalism is the idea that scientists should only use natural (non-supernatural) explanations to understand the world around us. To explain this idea as simply as possible: when scientists study things like animals, plants, stars, planets and so on, they should only think of natural reasons for why they act the way they do. They should not think of supernatural reasons, or that a magical being is controlling them. Scientists use their intelligence and knowledge of natural processes to understand the world, so they don't have to think about magic or miracles.
