The Mexican Oil Boom started in 1910 when a company called, the Mexican Eagle Oil Company, found oil near the town of Tampico. This was the first oil to ever be discovered in Mexico. The Mexican government was extremely excited because they saw the potential of making money off of oil production. They started to build up their oil industry which included creating oil rigs and pipelines. They also made agreements with other countries to explore for oil and help them develop their own oil industry. The Mexican oil industry was so successful that in the 1970s, Mexico was the fourth-largest oil producer in the world. This oil boom allowed the Mexican economy to grow, which led to more jobs and improvements in infrastructure. This made life much better for the Mexican people.
