Mianzi

Mianzi is a word used in some cultures that means "face" or "image". Imagine if you wanted to look really good in front of other people or you didn't want to do anything that would embarrass you or make you look bad. This is called "saving face". Mianzi is like that- it's all about making sure you don't do anything that could damage your reputation or make other people think less of you. It's kind of like making sure you always say "please" and "thank you" and act polite so people will like you and respect you. Just like how you would try hard to make a good impression on a new friend or teacher, people who really care about mianzi will always try to make a good impression on others too.
