ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Mie scattering

Mie scattering is when tiny particles in the air, like dust or water droplets, reflect light. When sunlight passes through the air, some of it will bounces off these particles and spread out in all directions. This causes the sky to look bright and light can seem to come from many directions. It's like playing with a shiny marble and seeing it sparkle in different directions.
