ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Miedema's Model

Miedema's model is a way of understanding how people make decisions when they try to solve problems. It says that when people make decisions, they take into account their thoughts, feelings, and experiences to come up with the best solution. First, someone will think about their goal, or what it is that they want to achieve. Then, they will consider what the options are - these could be different courses of action, different ways of thinking about the problem, or other potential solutions. They will also think about how each option might make them feel - so they might feel comfortable doing one thing and uncomfortable doing another. Then, they will look at their experiences - what have they done in the past when faced with a similar situation? Finally, once they understand all the options and how they feel about each option and how their experience might inform their decision, they will make their choice. Miedema's model helps people understand how important it is to use past experiences, thoughts and feelings when making decisions.
