ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Military abuse

Military abuse is when people in the military, who are supposed to protect their country and its people, harm or mistreat other people. It's like when a big kid at school picks on a smaller kid, except the big kid is trained to use weapons and has a lot of power.

Sometimes, military abuse happens because soldiers are not properly trained or supervised. Other times, it happens because of power struggles within the military or because soldiers are following orders from higher-ups that are wrong or illegal.

Examples of military abuse can include physical abuse (like hitting or punching), sexual abuse (like rape or sexual assault), emotional abuse (like bullying or belittling), or even torture.

It's important to remember that not all members of the military engage in abusive behavior. Most soldiers are honorable people who are trying to do their best to serve their country. However, when military abuse does happen, it can have very serious consequences and can be a violation of human rights.
