ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Military deployment

When a soldier goes on a military deployment, it means they have to go away from their home and family to do their job in another place. It's like when mommy or daddy goes to work in a different city for a while.

The soldiers have to pack special bags with all the things they might need like their uniform, boots, and equipment. They also have to take a lot of food and water with them because they might not have access to a grocery store.

Sometimes the soldiers have to travel very far to get to the place they are going. They might even have to go on a big airplane or a ship to get there.

When they arrive, they have to set up their living area and get used to their new surroundings. This can be difficult because sometimes it's very hot or very cold or there are strange animals around.

The soldiers have to work long hours every day to make sure that they are ready for any trouble that might come their way. They train and practice until they're very good at what they do.

During their deployment, soldiers might miss their home and family very much. But they know that they are doing an important job to keep people safe, so they keep going until it's time for them to come back home.
