Military history of Korea refers to the military history of the Korean Peninsula, including the history of warfare between Korea and its neighbors, the Korean military and its strategies, the history of the North and South Korean military, and the development of the Korean military through the centuries.
In ancient times, Korea was a powerful kingdom that was able to defend itself against invaders and enemies. The Koreans used many different weapons and tools, like swords, spears, bows, and boats, to fight their battles.
The Koreans, along with their enemies, fought with each other for hundreds of years. This fighting was mainly to protect their land and defend their kingdom. During this time, there were several wars between Korea and China, Japan, and other countries in the region.
In the twentieth century, Korea was controlled by the Japanese. After World War II, Korea was divided into two states, North and South Korea. This led to a civil war between the two states which lasted until 1953. After this, both states had standing armies, which fought with each other many times throughout the Cold War.
Today, North Korea still has a very powerful military, and South Korea is a strong ally of the United States. This means that both countries can work together to protect their citizens, and to keep the peace in the region.
