Missing women of Asia
Okay, so there are some places in Asia where there are fewer girls and women than there should be. This is because in those places, people really wanted boys and would sometimes do mean things to make sure their babies were boys.
One of the things they would do is decide not to have a baby girl if they found out they were going to have one. They might do this by having an abortion (which is when a doctor helps end a pregnancy before the baby is born) or by just not taking care of the baby girl after she was born.
This is really not fair to the baby girls who should have had a chance to grow up and live their lives. It also makes it harder for the boys who do grow up, because there aren't enough girls for them to marry and have families with.
People are working hard to try to stop this from happening and make sure that all babies, no matter if they're boys or girls, are loved and taken care of.
