ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Missionary kid

Sometimes, people leave their home country to go live in a different country and help other people. These people are called missionaries. And if these missionaries have kids with them when they go to live in another country, those kids are called missionary kids or MKs for short.

Being a missionary kid means that you get to experience different cultures and ways of life. You might eat different foods, learn a new language or make new friends from different parts of the world. And because you are living in a different country than your own, you might miss your family and friends from your home country. But you also get to see the good you are doing for the people you are helping, and that makes it all worth it.

Living in a different country can also have some challenges. For instance, you might have to adapt to a different school system, live in a different climate, and sometimes it may be difficult to communicate with people because of language barriers. However, being a missionary kid can be a unique and rewarding experience that gives you a chance to make a difference in other people's lives while learning and growing as a person.
