ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Models of Contextual Theology

Okay, let me explain it to you like you're 5!

So, sometimes people believe in different things about God and religion. That's totally okay, because we are all different and that's what makes the world so interesting! But sometimes, people who believe different things might want to work together or talk about religion, and it can be hard to understand each other.

That's where "models of contextual theology" come in. These are different ways that people have come up with to explain their beliefs in religion and God in a way that other people can understand.

One model is called the "synthetic model." This means that people take different ideas from different religions and put them together to form their own beliefs. It's kind of like a mix-and-match game!

Another model is called the "praxis model." This means that people focus on what they do in their everyday lives, rather than what they believe. They think that religion is more about how you act and treat other people than what you believe in your heart.

A third model is called the "liberation model." This model is all about making the world a better place. People who believe in this model think that their religion should help them fight against things like poverty, inequality, and injustice.

So, different models of contextual theology are just different ways that people try to explain and live out their beliefs in religion and God. It's okay if you don't understand them all, or if you believe something different. The important thing is to love and respect each other, no matter what we believe!
