ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Moderation in Islam

Hi there! Moderation in Islam means doing things in a balanced and fair way.

Let me give you an example. Islam teaches us that we should worship and pray to Allah, but we shouldn't spend all day doing that. We need to take care of ourselves, our families, and our communities too. So, we pray five times a day, but we also work, study, and spend time with our loved ones. We don't go to extreme lengths in our worship, like fasting every day or praying all night, because that could harm our health and relationships.

Similarly, Islam teaches us to be kind and helpful to others, but we shouldn't be pushovers or let people take advantage of us. We stand up for what is right and just, but we do it peacefully and respectfully. We don't resort to violence or aggression, because that goes against the teachings of Islam.

Moderation in Islam is about finding a balance between our spiritual and worldly obligations, and between our individual and social responsibilities. It helps us lead a fulfilling and meaningful life, while also contributing to the greater good.
