Okay kiddo, let me explain!
Do you know what folklore means? It's stories and traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation.
In Greece, there are many different stories and beliefs that have been around for a long time. Some of them are about mythical creatures like sirens, which are half-woman, half-bird and sing songs that lure sailors to their death.
Other stories include tales of goblins called kallikantzaroi who are said to come out during the twelve days of Christmas to cause trouble.
There are also stories about fairies and ghosts, and even the evil eye, which is when someone gives you a bad look and it causes bad luck.
These stories are still a big part of Greek culture today and they are passed down from parents to their children. People also celebrate certain holidays and festivals that have deep roots in Greek folklore, like the Feast of St. John the Baptist which involves jumping over fires to ward off evil spirits.
So you see, Greek folklore is a way for people to connect with their past and keep traditions alive!
